9 O Clock Flower - Brahma Kamal

I am not too sure if this is the Brahma Kamal, but it is one of the flower species that only blooms at night, around 9 PM in Indian Standard Time. I invite expert views on the same.

The reason I have put it in this blog is to showcase one of the beautiful flowers that are found in Assam, India.

Fragrant at Night - Rajanigandha

Polianthes Tuberosa is its scientific name. Rajanigandha is its Indian name. Although wiki claims that it is native to Mexico, I believe Assam, India had Rajanigandha from time immemorial.

Rajanigandha has one of the most mesmerising smooth soothing smell that emanates in the evening till late night. It has a huge market in terms of the perfume market globally.

STREET PHOTOGRAPHY

Street Photography is an art of capturing random candid moments, mostly in public places. It is not about the technique of photography. It is about the moment of photography.

I personally prefer street photography that has a social or an emotional message, which is ironical, contradictory or inflammatory.

One of the best street photography example is the photograph taken of the couple kissing on the vancouver streets just after a riot, with the rioters and the policeman in the frame.

There are others like the one below, which is about a social emotion. Although, we don't see any of the eyes, but it is clear that the man is looking at the girl standing, getting wet in the rains.

I came to consciously experience street photography only a few weeks back. Internet has a lot of great street photography.

I quickly tried recollecting, if I have done some street photography inadvertently.

This is what I found.

Wish I get to do more street photography.

Drunken View !

My daughter got it as a return gift,
Only to make me realise that I can't hit the red spot even once.
That led me to think about Arjun and the bird's eye,
And the exact opposite of a man pissed drunk.

This is my representation of a pissed drunk looking at the dartboard,
to pick up the darts for his chance.

Breath-taking Shots... literally !!

Fun is in
Holding your breath,
Steadying your hands,
Opening the aperture,
And putting the camera on self timer.

The Circle of Life

It is your time.
We will move on.

It will be your tomorrow.
We enjoyed our yesterday.

It is our love. It is our pledge.
Our yesterday will mother your tomorrow.

Gorai Beach, Mumbai

Late afternoon is indeed the best hours of the day to do a photo shoot.
Be it the beach, or a hot happening babe :)

Love playing with lights...

It is addictive capturing the different emotions of lights.
Never Enough!

As We Age..

August 2012 was a satisfed month.

I was in Kokrajhar helping my Bodo brothers and sisters who are being forced to stay at various relief camps because of ethnic violence in the BTAD area of Assam.

As usual, my camera took in a lot of pain. I had to take in some pain to capture a few happy moments.

Here are a few from the perspective of age glorifying bodo women.

I remember the Singing Old Man in Jaisalmer Fort..

He was sitting in a small corner with his thread string guitar..
I requested him to sing something.
He was elated, but somewhere deep inside there was pain.
Life is Amazing !

Playing with Lights !

Playing with lights is a great way to spend time with your camera,
and understand its response !

An evening out the swimming pool !

When you are bored in a room with good looking lights ...

In an empty road, with just the street lights...

Another night in a beach dark enough not to see the sea. But there were a few bulbs in a nearby shack.

Looks ordinary, but I clicked some 10 photographs to get this effect !

This was with my tripod, old monk and a 5 seconds exposure...

Cat-like

It was in Prithvi Theatre, Juhu that I was chasing a cat with the Lumia in my hand, like we chase chickens in a farm. Suddenly, he looked at me.. my trigger happy hand clicked.

The chase was so cat-like,
The photograph came out so cat-like.

Catching the Fire !

It was cold. It was Jaisalmer.
It was getting hot. I was getting high on Old Monk.

Next thing I remember running to get my tripod.
Hope you guys like my running around !

Reflections

The Night
When I was drunk
The swimming pool
showed me how I looked.

Immediately I ran to my room to get my camera... rest is history.
These are my favourites.

The Tusker

He looked scary. But,
He was calm, composed and was so much fun.

(Near Udaipur in one of my road trips to Delhi)

Tusker - That is how he is known to the village.

His Time. With His Companion.

He made my day!
